I Love My Mom ~ Happy Mothers Day to All...

I Love My Mom

My Mom and Dad

When I was a kid, I thought that my mom was the most beautiful woman in the world. Her long coal black hair, hung on her shoulders in a pageboy, and she always wore bright red lipstick. The contrast between her pale skin, dark hair and red lips was truly striking. I think she looked like Jacqueline Kennedy.

When I was young I asked my Mom how old she was, she jokingly told me 29, and I believed her, and told everyone she was 29 for about 5 years. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized that she was 28, just after I was born. But I don’t think she minded.

My Mom truly was Betty Crocker; she taught me how to bake, sew, and take pride in a job well done. She was President of the PTA, as well as a Girl-Scout Leader, so we were always, working on our badges, going for nature walks, or baking pies.

I was the one, of all the girls that inherited her baking skills, now that she is gone. I’m the one that makes all the holiday pies and birthday cakes for the family, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I cherish the time we spend together, being the youngest sometimes I feel like maybe I got a little more attention. Not just because I was the baby, but because I had time with her, once everyone else when off to college.

Even though she’s been gone over a dozen years now, I still think about her almost everyday, and sometimes I think I can’t wait to tell her something, or just go to call her, and then I just smile and remember… I love you Mom, and I miss you more than you can ever know…

Oh thanks so much for your kind words, she really was a Great Mom... I can close my eyes and see her working in the garden wearing her big red hat...

It's funny how snippets of time can cling to your memories... Hope you having a Wonderful Mothers Day!!!
