Gale Drawling

So Beautiful... Forever Young...

So I’m sad to say that the Mother and kittens that were living under my deck have moved on… They really only stayed for a few days, but I saw them periodically sunbathing out in the back yard a few times and she would always come by to eat the food I put out for her. I think all the fireworks scared her, she hasn’t been by since Sunday. So I stopped putting food out for her, I didn’t want to attract other animals because I do live in a very small town out in the country. So having raccoons, possums and skunks in the yard isn’t unusual.

Of course I miss her, but I know now that it was unrealistic to think that she might become my pet. I could barely look at her and she bolted out of sight. As much as I would have loved to raise the kittens I’m afraid that they never would have adjusted. Having learned their behaviors from their mother. Although I do think about her, and worry about where she’ll find food and water. But in the end I realize that I can’t control her, I can only wish her the best…

So this afternoon I’m going to the local humane society and hopefully will be adopting some new kitty’s. I looked at their website last night and they have a brother and sister that are a year old that need a good home. Their totally adorable, and I hope they haven’t been adopted yet. Of course their lots of other cats the need to be adopted (which totally breaks my heart). But I real want two, and it would be nice if they have already bonded together. So now I’m excited and can’t wait for the shelter to open… Tick, tick, tick… An hour and a half to go…

Wish me luck… ~ Kathleen

Willow and Sonny

I adopted a pair of new kitties at the humane society today, they’re a brother and sister duo about a year old. I’ve named them Sonny and Willow, Sonny is a white and orange male, and Willow is a female, mostly white with a little gray. They are so adorable and sweet, they love to cuddle and are so affectionate.  I really bonded with them immediately and they love to rub noses with you. Sonny was very standoffish at the shelter, but once he was home and felt safe he’s constantly by my side. Both of them love to be held and petted, Willow is definitely the mellower of the two, she’ll sit next to you and she’s happy. Sonny Boy on the other hand has to be on your lap, or should I say keyboard and loves to follow me around. I can tell were going to be great friends. I’m already falling in love with them… Here’s a few pics, but they don’t really do them justice, they’re both so adorable.
