Yes, yes, yes, I know, I know I know, I’m late with this week recommendation. But maybe I was supposed to be? I met Brandi1111 over on AO3 yesterday, and she ended up asking me to read her fic. Be gentle this is the first story she's ever written. I know how frightening it is to start putting yourself out there, and wondering if anyone likes or is even reading your work… I read it this morning while drinking my French roast, and I really enjoyed it.

It’s titled “What I Knew” and its original, adding a new character as well as incorporating the old gang. I found it refreshing, presenting a new take on the Pittsburgh and the people we all love to hate. I won’t give away the plot, but I do hope you’ll give it a read, because I know you’re going to really love it as much as I do. So please welcome Brandi to our community and help encourage her writing…

Thanks for racing Brandi11111 fic. I indeed found it to be a refreshing take and it is very well written. I hope she writes more.

I have spent most of the day reading through your fics on live journal. I like to read people's fics in their journals, when available, rather than at MW or AO3 because I find it to be a beefier experience. I really dug Flashes. It was totally unique and there were some really cool plot lines there. You have a great imagination and are fearless in what you tackle. As of now I am cherry picking the fics. I tend to like longer fics myself due to the character and plot development so that's where I am spending my time. I am in the middle of metamorphosis and am totally digging it. I didn't think I would like a disability brian fic but this one I do. Well I am off to read the rest of it. Mikey just found out Brian is paralyzed and I am waiting for Mikey to be a douche bag about it. However, your writing isn't predictable so maybe he won't be. that's also something I like about you - you keep me guessing. BTW I am Alnwick on MW and AO3. I don't (can't) write unless it's a procedural manual but I am a GREAT reader and proof reader. Have a great week and thanks for all the Fic!

First thing WOW! Thank you so much, that really brightened up my morning! It always makes me so happy when others enjoy my writing. The thing is I've never written anything before QAF. I never knew I could write, but this show just reached in and grabbed me in ways no other TV show, book or movie ever has...

I'm so glad you're enjoying my recommendations, I really believe in our fandom, even if it seems to be dwindling in numbers. Well at least on Livejournal anyways... It's funny last night Brandi11111 emailed me thanking me for the recommendation, and to let me know that she's had a great response to her fic. I also hope she keeps writing, I know when I started out I didn't even post I was so insecure. I wrote for me, I just needed to get my feeling out. Sometimes I'd actually email them to other fangirls when I was feeling brave...

The first fic I ever wrote was McKinney/Flashes I started writing them both at the same time. The idea was that Brian and Justin would be given multiple lifetimes to finally get it right... Then I had this idea to expand it to heaven/hell as well in Angels and Greek Gods. Then it got away from me and I couldn't figure out how to bring it all together. It's unbeta, and I'm considering reworking it and changing the name of the characters to submit it to be published someday... I'm a dreamer...

Anyways, as far as recommendations go I gave Brandi11111 a list last night that I consider to be a fangirls bible to QAF fanfiction. I believe these are all listed in Kathleen's Favorite Fics."
